My Three Go-To Workouts (that have changed my life)

At the very beginning of the you-who-shall-not-be-named (okay, fine, the pandemic), I think the majority of people felt that elation that comes with HAVING to stay home and being able to eat and drink whatever they want without judgment (or maybe it was just me? idk).

Anywhos to sum it up, I felt like shit in the beginning. I wasn’t taking care of myself, I ate chips and ice cream all day (cause duh), and took wayyy too many naps.

I started working out (shocker) about two months in, thanks to instagram (love you, girl) and Melissa Wood Health who is the ultimate strong badass mama w/ killer workout regimens to align the body, mind, and soul. I naturally fell in love with her and her entire brand. To sum it up, she is the reason I got into the best shape of my life. And I DIDN’T fall of the wagon which i’m pretty proud of good job me*.

I started trying NEW things to incorporate because I started becoming addicted to the endorphins which, I guess is the right kind of addiction (?).

I stumbled upon The Pilates Class on Instagram and it’s safe to say i’m in love. Led my Jacqui Kingswell, TPC incorporates a lot of HIIT and cardio into it’s classes causing these to build up more of a sweat.

I will say, these are VERY different in my opinion for that very reason.

MWH is a good everyday for me personally. Melissa really focuses on the fact that moving your body impacts your mental health more than anything and routine and consistency is key to living a balanced life. So when I dont know what which workout to do for any given day, I go with her. Most workouts are under 25 minutes and she just launched a whole new look and feel to her platform with new instructors for just about any kind of movement you might be craving.

I look to TPC if I know I want to challenge myself or focus on a particular goal. Safe to say 98% of the time, Jacqui’s classes leave me sore for the next couple of days which is a really great feeling. She also makes sure everyones form is correct — walking everyone through the proper technique to get the most out of her workouts WHICH I LOVE.

Last but not least is Peloton. This is the least easily accessible, okay, i’m aware but I need to be honest about why I enjoy it. I get a really good cardio session while getting to select what kind of music and instructor I would like for any given day. Listen, I’m not a cardio queen. I don’t crave it everyday. But if I know I need to sweat it out, if I know I need to release some stress or anger, it’s nice to do so in this way. The platform is extensive and you don’t necessarily need one of their machines to use it. They have outdoor running, strength training, pilates, yoga, meditation, etc. VERY extensive. the difference is Peloton is more music driven which is really cool.

But let me be clear, you DEFINITELY don’t need a peloton to do cardio. Have I enjoyed it? Definitely. But platforms like The Pilates Class has cardio as well.

Sometimes I’m craving high intensity kick my ass motivation and that will usually be Peloton. I don’t ALWAYS want to listen to music while working out (I know that’s controversial) so i’ll look to TPC or MWH. It all depends.

What I would love people to take away from this is find something that works for YOU. And if you can, try new things, shake it up, move your body no matter what. KEEP IT INTERESTING when it comes to workouts.

If I were to recommend ONE it would be MWH with around 400 total classes. Best variety for the money at only $10 per month.

If you try any of these let me know!
